Calculating the area of a triangle

Triangle it is a geometric figure formed by three line segments that connect three points that are not on one straight line. These three points are called the vertices of the triangle, and the line segments are called the sides of the triangle. The area of a triangle is calculated by the formula: the product of its base length and height divided by two.Формула площади треугольника

Classification of triangles

All triangles can be divided into three types:

  • Acute-angled
  • Obtuse
  • Rectangular

Types of triangles

  • If all the corners of a triangle are acute, then the triangle is called acute-angled.
  • If one of the corners of a triangle is straight, then the triangle is called rectangular. The two sides forming a right angle are called legs, and the side opposite to the right angle is called the hypotenuse.
  • If one of the corners of a triangle is obtuse, then the triangle is called obtuse. The other two corners are obviously sharp.

Triangles can also be classified by the number of equal (equal in length) sides. They are: versatile, isosceles and equilateral.
