## Formulas and definitions

Volume (from lat. volume–”filling”) is a quantitative characteristic of the space occupied by a body or substance.

A prism (from ancient Greek – “something sawn off”) is a polyhedron (polyhedron) whose two faces are congruent (i.e. equal) polygons lying in parallel planes (they are also its bases), and all the others are parallelograms (quadrilaterals) having common sides with these polygons (they are also the side faces of the prism).
